HARD CIDER
The Democratic Whig Convention called together to nominate
candidates to be supported by the Whigs of Harrison County, at the ensuing
election, met agreeably to public notice in Cadiz, on Saturday the 4th.
The Convention was organized by calling MICHAEL LAIRD of Nottingham
township to the Chair, and appointing P. R. K. BROTHERSON Secretary.
The townships having been called over by the chair in order, the following
gentlemen presented their candidates.
Cadiz - ALEXANDER HENDERSON, J. MAXWELL and P. R. K. BROTHERSON
Shortcreek - THOMAS FURBAY and J. HANNA
Athens - WILLIAM LINN, JOHN McCALL and S. A. RUSSELL
Moorefield - CARVILL G. KENNEDY, S. CLARK and B. W. PUMPHREY
Nottingham - JAMES P. BEALL, MICHAEL LAIRD and LEVI MALLERNEE

On motion of SAMUEL A. RUSSELL, the chair appointed the following
committee of one from each township to report to the convention suitable
candidates for the several offices to be elected this fall.
