Nathaniel Rowley

I, Nathaniel Rowley, of the town of Claverack, in the county of Columbia and State of New York, being of perfect mind and memory, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say.

Firstly I give and devise to my three sons, James, Samuel, and John my farm of land, with the buildings and appurtenances and tenements belonging, situate and being in the town and county aforesaid where I now reside. Share and share alike to have and to hold to them my said sons their heirs and assigns forever.
Secondly I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sally, the wife of Stephen W. Miller, one thousand dollars to be paid to her by my Executors one year after my decease.
Thirdly I give and bequeath to my son, Reuben one thousand dollars, to be paid to him by my Executors one year after my decease.
Fourthly I give and bequeath to my daughter-in-law, Sally, the widow of my son David, deceased, and to her five sons (viz.) Robert, James, Samuel, John & William and to her two daughters Mary and Isabella one thousand dollars, to be equally divided amongst them and to be paid to them by my Executors two years after my decease.
Fifthly I give and bequeath to my grand son, Levi Rowley the sum of one hundred dollars to be paid to him by my Executors.
Sixthly I give and bequeath to my three grand daughters (viz.) Emeline, Elizabeth, and Jerusha, (children of my son William deceased) seventy five dollars to be equally divided amongst them, and to be paid by my Executors.
Seventhly I will and direct that if there shall be at the time of my decease, any debts due me from any of the several Legatees above mentioned, that the amount of the same shall be deducted from his or her portion so as above bequeathed.
Eighthly I give and bequeath to my three sons James, Samuel and John, all the rest and residue of my estate, both real and personal, share and share alike to them their heirs and assigns forever.
Lastly I hereby nominate, constitute, and appoint my three sons, James Samuel, and John, Executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.

Witness my hand and seal this thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine.

The foregoing Testament was on the thirty first day of October 1849 executed by the above named Testator Nathaniel Rowley in the presence of each of us and was by him declared to be his last Will and Testament and we at his request and in his presence signed our names as attesting witnesses thereto.
