In the book "Some Descendants of Thomas Rowley of Windsor, CT with Lineage of Families Allied by Marriage," by Mildred Rowley Crankshaw she lists:

Levi ROWLEY, b. 24 Mar 1780, m. 19 Jan 1804 Abigail Center of Hartford. Sons Benj. and David and others admitted to Bloomfield Church 27 Jan 1805, wife admitted with two children Mary and Pamela on 6 Oct 1808.

Rowley Researcher, 1:3 (Nov. 1988), Query 1-09. Levi Rowley b 16 Dec 1733 prob Colchester, CT d. Sharon CT 23 Nov 1805 m. ((1) Elizabeth (---) who d. 11 Jun 1777; m. (2) Anna Stephens b. 1 Oct 1741 prob Canaan CT d 1795 Stillwater, Saratoga Co., NY; m. (3) Mary Smith 11 May 1800 of Hartford, CT. Known to have at least 3 children definitely: Elizabeth Rowley bp 1777, David Rowley bp 1785, Benjamin Rowley b. ca 1778. Three other children: Delight Rowley b. ca 1756, John Rowley b. ca 1761 and Cornelius Rowley b. 28 May 1774 are highly probable. There may be others.

Levi number 1 was the son of Philander and Joanna (Hays or Haze) Rowley. Levi number 2 was the son of Jonathan and Anne (Fuller) Rowley. Given the proximity of Hartford and Bloomfield and the similarity of names, plus there being no further record of the sons of Levi #1, there is a suspicion that those sons, Benjamin and David, that were admitted to the Bloomfield church were adults and may have been the sons of Levi #2. Can anyone help?

Subject: Ancestry of Carl Rowley

Milton Crum is seeking ancestry of Carl Rowley who m. Estelee Durfee.

Do any of the ROWLEY-FAMILY researchers have data on Ontario/Wayne Counties of New York and the Rowley familes there. There was a family, Edward Durfee, town of Palmyra, Ontario County. Estelee Durfee was NOT an heir. However, there were Rowley families in Palmyra and Wayne Counties. Palmyra was originally in Ontario County until it became part of Wayne County.

Possible families are: Alexander Rowley, Silvenus Rowley, William Rowley and James Bartle Rowley all of whom were in Wayne County and/or Palmyra where that Durfee family resided.

The time frame is mid-1800s as Carl Rowley m. Estelee Durfee ca 1865. Alexander Rowley died in Palmyra in 1855. Silvenus was born there in 1810 (son of Alexander) and married 1839, died 1885. Silvenus had brothers Henry, Francis, Alexander and Daniel. William Rowley, son of Stephen Bishop Rowley was born in Wayne Co.in 1827 and married Fannie Marie Fuller in 1848, died in MI.

Henry Rowley was born in England, and was in Plymouth Colony in 1632. He was married to Ann Palmer, who died before 17 October 1633, and resided in Barnstable.

Their daughter, Sarah, married Jonathan Hatch on 11 Apr 1646. They are my 7GGrandparents. He was a founder of Falmouth.

Does anyone have information on this line?

My particular line of research is on all descendents Daniel Rowley, b. 1720, m. Bethiah Langrell , of East Haddam, Middlesex County, CT. I know how he relates back to Henry Rowley of Plymouth (he is son of Moses Rowley the third). I have identified about 400 descendents of Daniel and Bethiah Rowley, particularily through their son Joseph Langrell Rowley, b. East Haddam, CT 1750, d. Lawrence County, OH 1849. He lived in East Haddam, CT, then New Canaan, NY, then Genesse County, NY, then Allegheny County, PA and finally Lawrence County, OH.

I want to find (1) the name of Joseph Langrell's first wife, married about 1780-1782 in CT or NY and (2) I would like to add all descendents of Daniel and Bethiah Rowley, and Joseph Langrell Rowley, to my data base. You are invited to correspond with me if you know of any or suspect any links.

(Earlier genealogists have confused Joseph Langrell Rowley with another Joseph L. Rowley b. about 1749 in CT who moved to Ontario. I have definitely disproved this.)

Regarding Sarah Rowley m. Jonathan Hatch - the best reference for those early generations is "Mayflower Families ThrougH Five Generations" published by The General Society of Mayflower Descendants, Plymouth, 1990. You want V. 4, The Edward Fuller Family.

Volume 4 of Mayflower Families Through Five Generations is in its 2nd edition, which was published 1995. If you can lay your hands on it, it expands the Rowley data and adds some descendants.

"Little John Fuller" and Mehitable Rowley were the parents of a child, Benjamin. In the 1st edition, it was thought there were two Benjamins, one born 1701 and another in 1704. They were found to be the same person. I won't go into the details, but it affected descendancy of Simeon Rowley. See Mayflower Descendant 45:171 for details of the corrections.

There are some changes in the Hatch family, which is what is being discussed here. For instance, Abigail (Codman) Hatch disappears from the revised edition. I have not investigated why.

Here are TWO precious family bibles that identify the children of Joseph Langrell Rowley. I have corresponded with the owners of the bible. I want to communicate with others from this line. For instance I have no data on what happened to most of Joseph Langrell Rowley's children, who they married, etc and would LOVE to find them.

I am looking for documentation to connect this 4-generation line:
Moses (IV) - Timothy - Timothy, Jr. - Peter

This information comes from a woman who has since passed away & I can't seem to find her research to find the documentation. Can anyone tell me where to look for this documentation?

Incidentally, the woman's name is Janet Richardson of Grand Rapids, MI. Did anyone know her or her research?

Thanks, Maureen Reed
