The soldier was a prisoner of war, received a bullet in the thigh and lost a finger.  At the Battle of Bull Run, he was shot in the right cheek and the top of the head.

He lived in many places.  He was discharged 02 Jan 1864 to Utica, MN.  He moved 1879 to Mitchell, SD, 1888 to Huron, SD, 1897 to Chicago, 1899 to Winona, MN, 1900 to Wausau, WI, 1902 to Jackson, MS, 1904 to Couer dÁlene, Idaho, and then to Eugene Oregon.
